Minnesota's nonprofit health plans strive to provide consumers with the most effective, affordable and highest quality prescription drugs available. Some health plan procedures cover all prescription drugs when appropriately prescribed by a medical professional; others have a list of drugs they cover, called a formulary.

As a service to consumers and medical professionals, Minnesota Physician Publishing and the Minnesota Council of Health Plans produce a guide to the formulary of Minnesota health plans for commonly prescribed outpatient medical categories.
